Brain Farts

Yes, I had one... I came back home and thought that I packed everything. What did I forget? My camera, of course. I get to see my best friends like once every 4 months, and now that I'm here, I don't have my camera... I win at life.

Since I've started working on Photoshop again, I decided to start my own photo blog. Check it out for the latest images I've been working on... They're nothing to brag about, but hey, we all gotta start somewhere.

I would love some feedback from you guys, especially the negative, so I can improve.

Resurfaced Obsession: Photoshop

I've rediscovered Photoshop... again. I go through these phases with Photoshop and end up finguring out how to do some neat things, then I drop it, forget everything, and have to relearn it all a year later... I did worked on these photos yesterday and today that I took a while back, check it:

Speak-Easy

So last night with my roommates and neighbors we went to a bar called Bourbon and Branch, an old speak-easy bar from the prohibition times. It's a SUPER classy bar that is SUPER expensive. You have to make reservations and have a password to get in.... and when you sit down they give you a menu with only drinks.

There were so many that I had never heard of, that I just picked something that I hadn't tried, and that no one else in my group picked cause we all wanted to try something different....
When we were all ordering, one of the girls ordered a Blood and Sand, which is what I wanted... so I quickly thought of something else to order... the first thing that came to mind was something that I had just read in the menu... Johnny Walker. The waitress asked me if I wanted Black, Gold, or Blue, and how I wanted it... I just said "blue, straight up please."

Once the drinks were brought to us, I was pretty shocked to find out that mine was basically a shot. I had never ordered Johnny Walker before, so I had no idea... I also had no idea that the label I just ordered, blue, was the most expensive at $28.... The single most expensive shot, and drink, I have ever ordered.

My tab was $45 for 3 drinks. It should have been a little more than that, probably around the $55 range, but we all just split the bill evenly.

over and out (of ca$h)

Update V1.6

I bought a $25 t-shirt with Mothra on it, and it says in big font "ATTACK!"... the coolest thing about it is that it's 3D, and it comes with 3D glasses... you know, like the ones that you go see movies with? yeah, it pretty much rocks anyone's socks off.

I've been typing away at all these papers I have due this week... finally some progress. The most important one for my media research class, I didn't put that much effort in it. I hate writing reasearch papers. Sad thing is I picked the topic on what to write about...

ALSO, only 20 days till I'm OUT of this country for a few weeks... just the break I need if you ask me. These past 2 months have been filled with drama fo' yo' mama... most of my own doing of course.
Oh, and I saw a video of a kitten on LSD... pretty disturbing...

OOOHHH!!! and I saw THIS movie last night:

This Gets To Me

I HATE library catalogs... I HATE THEM. Especially school library catalogs that have multiple databases. They are the most confusing thing to have ever been created. It's like you need a fucking master's degree in library studies just to be able to browse them and find out what they have. FDJLKH(IU*#*!!!!!

I'm writing this long ass essay right now. I only have 4 sources, and I need at least 10. It's due on Tuesday... how tha hell am I gonna find 6 sources in such little time!!??

Swamped

Yes, SWAMPED with school work for the next two weeks. I'm not even gonna begin to tell you all the projects and exams that I have...

So I am officially less than a month away from going back to London, and best of all to Budapest. Can I get a hellz yeah up in this mug??
My Hungarian is also sorta coming along, the only thing that sucks is that I have so much school work that I can't devote too much time to the Hungarian. But here it goes:
Sajnos csak egy kicsit tudok magyarul.

Aside from all that, I'm trying to get into the habit of eating more home-made sushi... we've been buying all the ingredients the past couple of weeks and making it ourselves, and we've become quite the pros if I may say so myself.
Over and out.

The Fountain

I just got back from seeing The Fountain... All I have to say is... WOW. I LOVED this movie. First of all, one of the most visually stunning movies I've seen in a very long time.

Basically the story is about 1 man trying to find a cure to a cancer that is killing the love of his life, and it takes place throughout 1000 years. In 1500 during the spanish inquisition, during modern times, and in 2500. Honestly, do yourself a favor, and see this movie in the theatres.

I WILL warn you, however, that feelings about this movie seem to be evenly split. It was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, and it got a standing ovation, as well as booing. Me and Ashleigh loved it, but Abe hated it...

CASH Money Money!

Yeah so... I'm running outa cash. I was looking over at my monthly expenses for Novermber, and I WAY over spent. The month is not even over, and I spent $170 JUST ON BEER!!!! ikh&#^*&%HFHjkh!!!!!!

I'm an idiot... now, after the trip, I'll have like $300 a month.. IF that. I guess for the next couple of months I'm gonna have to lay low.

Poo.

The Love Of My Life

Here's a little poem I wrote late last year and posted on Myspace....

--

There I was, slowly walking down the street. It was a warm summer night...

As I passed each store I looked in, but didn't pay any particular attention to anything I saw... my mind was somewhere else.... until I saw her...

She was sitting on a table beautifuly posed. She had a perfect figure.

As I stood outside looking in, stunned, I realized it was now or never. I could simply keep walking and never know, or approach her.

As I stepped inside the cool air grazed my face, and I took a deep breath. My eyes were locked. I walked in a straight line. I was a man with a mission. The 10 seconds it took to get to her felt like 10 years.

Finally, I reached her, and I asked, "what's your name?"

"Macintosh," she said, "my name is Macintosh."

Be The Riottt

So yesterday was the Be The Riottt concert. ehh.... They had three stages with about 10 bands playing in each stage, a different one going on every hour. It cost us $35 and I really don't think it was worth it. First let me cover the good parts:
+ Explosions In The Sky played some of their new stuff
+ Sage Francis was amazing
+ The Presets were pretty good
+ Ran into some friends

Now let's take a good look at the bad parts:
- It was 'all ages,' hence the 11-teens EVERYWHERE. You could tell who was really young by their cups. If it was clear and filled with beer, it's all good. If it was a Pepsi cup with water, STAY AWAY!
- All drinks: AT LEAST $7... and that's just for one regular bottle of beer.
- All other shows, excluding the ones mentioned above, blew ass holes.
- All the shows were badly scheduled, so between the good ones you had to wait about 2 hours in the hallways drinking expensive MGD or Pale Ale.
- The entire show was a huge marketing scam. They had Scion signs EVERYWHERE. On the stage, in the hallways... They were even selling cell phones near the main stage.
- DJ's between the bands were really bad. Couldn't blend songs to save their lives.

Overall we had OK fun, cause we just kept drinking... but it was NOT worth the $35.

On another note.... I'm learning Hungarian:
Az útlevelét, legyen szíves! <----- Your passport, please!

Update V1.5

This past week has been a very drunk one, with Halloween and all... I spent over $60 or $70 on drinks a lone.

I'm stressing out over a few things at the moment, including school, and I feel like just going to Vic's at the corner and getting myself some drinks again to blow off some MORE steam.
I've also been very hungry lately....

Sorry for the lame-ass update, it really doesn't give you ANY idea whatsoever as to what I'm up to.

Pees.

Hanna's First Pumpkin!

Yes, the Icelander had NEVER seen a pumpkin before, so here she is with her first experience EVER carving one:

There Are People In My House!

It is the strangest thing. The building I live in is being sold, and the realtor is showing it off. Right now there's like 4 people roaming my house, checking the fireplaces, checking the rooms, and here I am just minding my own business... They walk in my room, check everything, ask me questions... WEIRD!
It's like... "hello, feel free to look at my room and do what you want!"

GET OUT OF DAS HOUSE!

A Recap

So I'm back from Los Angeles and it was amazing! I'm so happy with the turn out of people... I think we had like 15-18 people... but the GOOD ones. We literally took about 1500 pictures throughout the weekend.
I'm pretty sure I was drunk ALL weekend, which is actually kind of sad.
I took Rob to the airport on Sunday, he needed to catch his flight to Japan, and the poor guy had the wrong airline... he thought it was United, but in fact it was American Airlines. At the time we were trying to check in, there was about 25 min left before the flight left.
ANYWAY, he made it. He should NOT have made that flight, but he got very lucky.

So now I'm backed up in school cause I missed monday. I have to read god knows how many chapters and askjfhjap!@#!!!!

LOST tonight... nuff said.

In LA For The Weekend

YES! It is true! I am back home until monday for the first time since I moved to San Francisco. It feels reeeaallly nice. Today Im just hanging with my mom cause I haven't seen her in so long, but I suspect that tonight will follow by a little drinking... nothing out of control, cause... well... that's tomorrow when EVERYONE comes over. Kyle, Hanna, Ryan, Erika, Rob, Una (and her friend), Paul, Michelle, Kristen, Darin, Brittany, Luke.... JESUS!
The BBQ is gonna tear the roof off this place for SURE!

Pictures to come...

Best Quesadillas In Town... Thanks To ME!

Today I constructed 4 of the best quesadillas in the world. This is what I did. I took a hotdog and chopped it up in thin slices, then I threw them on the pan until they were golden brown. Then I set the hotdog pieces aside while making the quesadilla. THEN, when it was time to put the ingredients in the tortilla, I threw in sharp cheddar cheese, a few pieces of the hotdog, super thin-sliced turkey, and mozarella cheese. It was heaven in my mouth!

This is all you need:
+ 1 hotdog
+ 4 flower tortillas
+ Desired amount of sharp cheddar cheese
+ Desired amount of mozarella cheese
+ Thin-sliced turkey

"Creep Saying"

So this was/is a much talked about topic amidst my group of friends, and story goes as follows:
We were all pretty drunk one night, and I'm not too sure if someone said "creep saying" or if I came up with it out of thin air, but I suddenly brought forth the question, "If I was to say 'creep saying,' would I say it the same way when I say 'what was that creep saying?' as to when I say 'that's a creep saying?'?" I don't think I've ever gotten more confused looks from my friends in my entire life.... I meant it as in "that saying is creepy" and "someone whos a creep is saying something"... if you catch my drift.

I continue to get made fun of to this day... and this happened like 3 months ago.

New Year's in Europe

I would like to let all yall know that I am now the proud owner of a ticket to europe for new years! Yes, that's right. I found a ticket to London on the 26th of December for $400, can you believe it!? So I'm gonna be there for a couple of days, and then fly to Budapest for 2 weeks, also spending the new year's there. After that I'll be going back to London for a few days to party with a bunch of cool people I came to know on my work abroad program.

I honestly can't believe I actually bought a ticket. When I first bought it I was like... Well, was that the right move? Am I only making things worse? but hey, I'm only 23 once, right? this is gonna be amazing!

Yeah.. I know... you wish you were me.

Computer Troubles...

So this sunday was supposed to be my Media Avoidance day for one of my classes. I was supposed to avoid ALL media including books, computers, internet, TV, video games, music... EVERYTHING. I was supposed to log what media I can intentionally avoid, and what media I couldn't avoid.
So I woke up on Sunday ready to do this. The thing was that I HAD to go online to print some readings for a class. That was gonna be ALL the media I was gonna get in one day. I go to turn on my computer, and it doesn't do anything. It was as if it wasn't even plugged in!!
Of course I freaked!
Basically, I spent the better half of the day trying to get a cab, got the Apple store... had to leave it there, and it's gonna take a week to fix... I'm going outa ma' mind without my baby...

Head, Hud, Had.... ?

Here's a question... What's the past-tense of head. I mean, I can say, "I'm gonna head on over there," but what if I'm trying to say that I already went? What's the past-tense of "head"? Is there one??

My Toilet...

is clogged, and I don't know who did it!!! Abe... I'm lookin' @ u! I think the reason was because we ran out of toilet paper, so we've been having to use tissue paper. Not paper towels, but tissue paper, which is WAAAAAY thicker.

Toying With This...

I'm looking into studying abroad. Of course nothing is even close to set in stone, so refrain from saying "BUT YOU JUST GOT BACK!!"

I'm looking to go for next fall, and the two places that are really calling out to me are Germany and the UK... especially Germany becasue with this program I don't really have to have much German under my belt, and the instructors teach in English. I would learn German by taking a couple of German classes and second hand from just living there.

The program would last a year (school year to be exact). It would start around August 20th, and end July 29th... so yeah, basically a year.
The costs are the SAME as going to San Francisco State, so that is really luring me in...

I'll keep you posted, cause I'm sure you all care.

Update V1.4

Things that I've been up to lately

+ Sold my iPod
+ Partying every weekend
+ Budgeting my money better
+ School
+ Looking for cheap flights to the UK/Europe
+ Attempting to bake
+ Planning a BBQ for when I visit home in 3 weeks
+ Confused as all fuck trying to figure out "what I wanna be when I grow up"

I've been trying to really look into professions that would allow me to travel, and also some study abroad programs. The thing is that probably the easiest way to work in my field and travel would be by majoring in Journalism/Photojournalism... and I don't think I really have the hots for Journalism. I DO love taking pictures, so maybe I could look into Photojournalism.
But if I change majors... do I have to start all over again?

Revision3 Party Pictures

I just got back from the Revision3 Party in San Francisco at the Mighty club, and here are some of the pictures I took with Alex, Kevin, Lala, Heather, and Johnny Johnny. The first 2 hours of the party featured an open bar. The party continued with a short demo of the shows about to premiere, including the rebirth of The Broken (which the crowd went nuts for). They also had 2 Macs set up showing off the new Revision3 website. I got a chance to check it out, and it looks amazing. Sorry, I didn't have a pen, and wasn't able to write down the URL.

Are the pictures down because of bandwidth? Here's the flickr mirror

Update v1.3

Right, so, the drink-off, I WON baby! Woo! Kyle ended up getting sick all over the place, and I ended up taking a video of him in the bathroom passed out. Check this out:

Also went to the Folsom Street Parade near the Civic Center in San Francisco and saw the most (probably) disturbing things I have ever seen. Having been there, I honestly believe I have seen everything there is to see. There were people masturbating in public, weird sex torture things going on, people getting whipped, you name it it was there. And there were THOUSANDS of people walking around and watching, taking pictures, etc...
Half the people walking around were nekid anyway....

I would post pictures of that, but they're just too disturbing. If you're all up in da Vivahate, you've seen the pictures I've posted and know what I'm talking about.

PS - How does new year's in Budapest sound?

The Drink-Off

So Kyle has this stupid idea that he can outdrink me... Tonight is the night that I prove him wrong!

We have a bottle of JD and a 12er of Hefeweizen. I'll try to sneak some pictures....

Wednesday, September 20, 2006

Update v1.2

SO! I just got my 2 gigs of memory and installed it.... My shit be flyin'! Everything runs so much smoother and better, and I can run, easily, so mamy more applications at the same time!

Aside from that, Mike and Kyle are on their way up from LA right now, and they're bringing me about 4 dozen empanadas... if you know what those are, you should be salivating and be green with envy.
And another cool little fact, Diggnation, the very popular podcast that I'm obsessed with, featured my email in their latest release. It was WEIRD having someone read my email for about 500,000 people to hear!

Anyway, I sense pictures are to come soon because of the latest visits and the partying that we will partake in...
And one more thing: Kyle has been under the impression, for the past few months if not more, that he can completely out-drink me AND Mike... This of course is not possible, but we will be putting his hypothesis to the test probably this thursday or friday night, Mike being the moderator making sure we drink equal amounts. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Facebook Craze

So Facebook added this new feature which lets you see what your friends' latest activities are, and there's this HUGE revolt, people complaining because of the privacy issues. Well, even though they've added the safety and privacy features, everyone's like, "So, what are my Facebook alternatives?"

Get over it people, Facebook is one of the best, if not THE best social networks out there.

This Past Weekend

Here are some pictures from this past weekend's events... a bunch of us met up at Melanie's empty apartment, started playing some drinking games, and then quickly ran out of alcohol. For some dumb reason, there's no places around her apartment that are open past 21:00...

So anyway, here are the goodies:

The World Is Changing

Do you ever feel like the whole world is changing around you, FAST, and you can't keep up no matter what you do? It seems like every day I'm finding out, years after the fact, that good friends of mine from high school are having kids, others died, etc... and it feels like shit.

It feels so strange. I haven't done ANYTHING since high school... I took my sweet ass time at a junior college, and I spent 7 months abroad... THAT'S IT! Now I'm finally doing my last 2 years of school in San Francisco, but even friends of mine that are 2 years younger than me are DONE with college...

hfvtJKBCFGjbfc!!

What's With Me?

I find myself unable to stop watching The 4400. It's not even that good of a show. I mean, it's got some really good ideas, and a cool plot line, but a lot of the time it just really shows how "network tv" it is...

By the way, anyone else as obsessed with their computer as I am? I can't look away! HELP!

3 Nights And $100 Later

So this past Labor Day weekend was spent going to numerous parties including a house party with a shit-ton of people and three live bands, an art show/concert at an art gallery, and a mellow house party with lots of good wholesome goodness food (Paella).

The pictures are in no particular order. They're all from the past 3 nights or so. Ashleigh, I know what you're gonna say, and trust me, I didn't use the worst pictures of you that I possibly could have.
Today was spent just eating good food, playing video games, and doing some reading for my BECA Research class... Enjoy the photos:

The Rolling Freakshows

I've been on many San Francisco buses, trams, and metros... but I have never been on a bus after 10pm here, and let me tell you, AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS! It was surreal!!! This city really needs to start cleaning it self up, even if only a little bit. The homeless problem here is really getting out of hand, and it seems as though the city has no plans for a remedy.

I was eating cheescake (Dulce De Leche) from The Cheescake Factory by a park with a few friends, and after we were done, this guy came along and asked us if he could have the rest. We gave it to him, and he started scooping up the whipped cream with his fingers and licking them... when my friend tried to get one more bite of cheescake, he growled at her!!

Pictures to follow...

Stupid English And Purposeless Images

I was going over some old "Rants" on my Vivahate profile, and found this post from June 9th and felt like reviving it:

---------
I fucking HATE english
I hate knowing only english and spanish.... Cause spanish is pretty much fucking useless everywhere in europe except spain, and english just makes you look like a fucking dumb(ASS) american.

I ask for half a kilo of pastries at a bakery, in english (please forgive me for not knowing hungarian, the hardest fucking language in the world) and I get the worst looks, as if I just killed a new born child in front of its mother while using the lord's name in vain and reciting the greek alphabet backwards.
EXCUSE ME, but im NOT like every other idiot. I know another language, english just happens to be the common language that most people use to communicate.

ASSNESS
---------

Here are some pictures from the past couple of weeks, there's no particular order to them.... I'm just posting them....

  • Went to school to buy text books

  • Clam Chowder in a sourdough bread roll at Fisherman's Wharf

    The Woods

Went to Muir Woods today, and it was awesome! Very peaceful, and there's trees there that are like 1200 years old!! The only thing that REALLY sucked was that I think I had a bad blueberry muffin this morning, and I felt sick ALL day. Light-headed, dizzy, stomach ache, you name it.

The day got better though, since I got to see A Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra And The Tra-La-La Band!!! They put on a FANTABULOUS show. Check'em out if you haven't heard of them.

Pictures to come from today's "woods" excursion.

    Life In Comics

Well, spent the better part of yesterday on the computer and playing video games.... a very productive day.

I also discovered a little app called Comic Life, and I'm addicted. It's basically a program that lets you use your own photos to make comic-style albums. This is what I mean

And let's see... Tomorrow we have visitors again for about 4 days. I can't wait to get the ball rollin' here!

    At The Poop Scene

So last night we went to this club in butt-fuck Egypt. I'm so used to a completely different club scene that this place really struck me as kinda odd, but it was a lot of fun. I wasn't too happy with the whole "gotta pay a $5 cover," but whatever. We ended up consuming quite a bit of alcohol...
    Here's the blackmail material:
