Fix your books

Ok, so, as you may have noticed, I almost never update this blog. That's because I no longer use this space, and now use my own domain to put up my photography/blogging.

What Am I Up To??

So my life is pretty crazy right now. First and foremost, check out my website for some nifty photo updates:
Robot Forest

Ok, so I just finished my internship a couple of weeks ago at the TV station in Oakland, and it was great. Now I got job at Apple (about 1 1/2 months ago), and I recently got promoted =)
Also, this past week, school started. I'm taking a bigger load than usual. I usually take 12 units, but for some stupid reason I freaked out the other day thinking that I was all these units short. So I added another class taking me up to 15 units. I know that 15 units doesn't sound like it's TOO bad, but check it...
I have TWO production classes, one of which we have to produce a television spot throughout the semester... and it will actually air on TV (I have to edit it and the hours can be random). And the other production class is about half as intense.

Then I have THREE writing classes... one more intense than the other. And I'm talking like... several papers per class, per week.
ALSO, I'm a CSB (College Students in Broadcasting) Officer, which means I have to be more dedicated to the group, build the website, attend all the meetings, etc etc etc... lots of work.
Oh, and on top of that, I have a job. And on top of THAT I'm trying to put a movie together to shoot this next spring, and a short video to shoot next month... If the day had 25hrs I would be forever grateful.

Has the Whole World Gone mAd?

I was leaving work yesterday at the mall, and there was a HUGE crowd waiting for the release of the new and final Harry Potter book. As I walked through the crowd looking for the exit, it struck me. I never really thought about it before. You know why I like the Harry Potter crowd? Not because they dress up like the characters, not because they range from all ages, and not because they're super geeks. I'll tell you why... How often do you see people waiting for hours outside of a store for a BOOK? Not for a new movie coming out, that will probably end up being crap. Not for a new iPhone. For a book. To read. I really think that's fascinating.

Chocomolee

About a month ago I was at Amanda Dolan's birfday party held at Charlie's place, and I noticed that there was Guacamole in a HUGE bowl... more like a salad bowl, on a small table in the living room. In it were the Avocado seeds... and as you know, those fuckers are huge and dark. NEXT to this gi-normous bowl was a plate with chocolate brownies. What happened was that as I scanned the room, and while looking for people I knew, I also noticed these edible items on the table... but as I scanned fast the avocado seeds for a moment looked like brownies. So I thought, *How odd... chocolate brownies IN the guacamole*
So I told this to a friend of mine, and we started thinking of names combining the two. I thought of Guacholee, but my friend 1-upped me by suggesting Chocomolee.

Where I Am

I really find it funny (fucked up) how life works. I mean, you spend all this time/energy looking for something that you really want, and when you find it, you only get a teaser.... a taste... a sample of what it's like, and then it slips right through your fingers... like sand, or something. You can see it, you can feel it, hell you can even taste it, but you can't keep it.. no no... you're only allowed to KNOW how good things could be, you're not allowed to have things actually BE that good.

These things happen less than infrequent because most of the time you just go around waiting for something this good to come along. When it finally comes, it lasts long enough to know what it's like but short enough to leave you begging for more.

The only good that comes out of these situations is that they really make you think about where you are. It's a strange feeling. You start to dissect your life into little pieces and you start separating the things that make you happy from the things that make you miserable. Does this make any sense to you? It seems to make perfect sense to me.

I'm just tired of letting life slip through my fingers. I need to do something drastic. Something life-changing....

I'll get back to you with ideas...

Good thing:

Bad things:
Can't find my Social Security card
Alice left yesterday... =(

More Randomness

So now I'm having to RE-rate ALL of my songs on iTunes.... I'm talkin' years of work all down the drain cause I decided to re-install OS X. ANYWAY.....

I'm THIS close to getting the job at Apple... I'm just having to fill out all these background check forms, etc. Man I really hope I get that. Discounts... maybe even a free iPod, the nectar of the Gods.

Anyway, been messing with Photoshop a lot more lately, check out my latest: Robot Forest
Besides that, just lookin' forward to Tuesday... if you know me, then you know why!

My Birth Day

So OK. The day started out slow, and actually quite nice. I got some "happy birthday" wishes from a lot of friends and family and it was great... but THEN I got into this long discussion/argument with my mom and it kinda killed my mood a bit... I mean, it didn't really ruin anything, and it was a discussion that we've had several times. But having it come up again on this day, and taking it to new levels was less than perfect...

Today I'm gonna drink, play risk with my roommates, and then go see Data Rock later on. And I think they might be planning something for me because I just caught them being all secretive.

I just don't feel like it's my birthday... the day is extremely average, and that kinda sucks. It's all good though because we're supposed to be throwing a housewarming party soon, so we'll make that 50% housewarming and 50% bday celebration.

Here's to 24.

Old friends, Television, and moving.

So I got back in touch with a couple of friends from Argentina that I haven't spoken to in.... well... 10 YEARS!!! These guys were my best friends when I was little, but once I moved to LA I lost contact with most (if not all) of them. I'm going back to Argentina this winter so it's cool, and it's actually funny how fast news travels, cause a lot of these friends that I haven't even talked to in forever already know that I'm coming back cause they heard the news through the grape vine...

------

Today I started my internship at KTVU, the FOX affiliate... I'm not so stoked about the fact that it's Fox, but I get to do some cool stuff. Today I made some copies of TV shows that are premiering this fall, and I made a copy for myself :)
I'll also get to shadow the editors for the news, and work with Avid some times, so I'm really excited about getting my hands dirty with some professional equipment.

------

The moving is pretty much done. All our stuff is here at the new place, but now we have to actually arrange everything. The thing that sucks is that there's construction going on for some leaks in the wall, so for the next week we have to keep our things 6 feet from the wall so that the workers can do their thing..... that SUCKS cause it means we can't set up for a while, and we just want to be done with it.

- that is all....

The Finishing Touches

So moving is pretty much done! Now all we have to finish is organizing all the stuff in the loft. The place is comparable in size, but it's laid out so differently that it's gonna be tricky.
My room is also much smaller, but I feel like now the space is manageable.

Today the cable guy is coming to hook up our internet, and our cable... for an extra $20 a month on top of our internet, Abe got us a phone line and cable (including free HBO). I end up paying the same though, cause Abe needs a phone line for his business, so I end up scoring.

PS - can the new iMacs come out already so I can sell mine off and get one?

Road Kill

I was driving back from the Bjork concert on Saturday with some friends, and the 101 freeway was all backed up. Finally we saw that it was an accident ahead. When we drove by it, we saw a fire truck parked trying to cover up body parts all over the road, and there were a couple of police officers with huge zip-lock back-like bags filled with chunks and blood.

There were three body bags on the road... it was terrible.

One of the more disgusting thins I've seen.
There was also a car a bit smashed up, but I just couldn't figure out how three people got that messed up if the car was not that bad at all... maybe they weren't wearing their seatbelts? They were probably driving back from the concert...

renting, moving, crap, etc etb dkuwu2E@!!!!!!!

Today was a full day of looking at new places. It seems like every time we find the perfect place to move into, everything gets ruined because we're students, and they don't trust that we can make rent every month....

Current Status

1: My room looks like the Vietnam war.

We Outs!

OK, so, I know it's been a while, but here it is. So the biggest news around these parts nowadays is the fact that we're having to move out...
The building sold, and they've kicked everyone out already. The girls upstairs and the couple in the back moved out almost a month ago.

It seems like we're gonna have to be out by June 1st. The COOL thing is, that it also seems like we might be getting a little bit of money from the agency that owns the place now.

Who knows what's gonna happen now, but the cool thing is that we're gonna get a much nicer place in a quieter area.

IN OTHER NEWS: School is done in like 3 weeks, and I'm hoping to start an internship for the summer. I can't WAIT for this summer to be honest. New place, inernship, some free time. It's gonna be nice.

ALSO: Going to Argentina for sure, and it seems like we've extended our stay to 3 weeks. Still, I won't be going to Antarctica this time around, cause even though I'll be able to afford it, it's too much money. Maybe some other time when I'm making a few million a year.

Lonelygirl15

I kept hearing about this 'lonelygirl15' on YouTube, so I decided to check it out. OMG what a waste of my fucking time!! It is officially a close 1st for the dumbest shit ever. It's a girl talking in an almost monotonous tone about how bored she is. YAWN

Why do these things become so popular?? I don't get it! Someone please explain it to me!

Anyway, check her out for yourself and see how dumb it is...
I won't even waste the energy in putting a link to it here, so just search for that screen name on YouTube.

The Sickness

So this last weekend was truly great. It was four straight days of drinking from thursday to sunday in honor of St. Patrick. It was a weekend filled with festivities, and joy..... and joyness. But there was one part of me that didn't have as much fun as I did... my immune system. Today I woke up, and it felt like I was just run over by the gigantic rolling ball from Indiana Jones 1, in that cave... remember?

I've stuffed myself today with all sorts of vitamins, and drank some tea and lots of water. I'm contemplating not going to school tomorrow though. Maybe I'll do my homework and email it to my friends to turn it in for me...
I just wanna stay in and watch movies.

Cameras

So I was at Sarah's party last night, and Sara (a different one, you'll notice there's not H) had pretty much the most amazing camera in the world. I've been talking to my mom about getting a camcorder soon to work on my video projects... but now I want a Digital SLR as well.
It honestly was unbelievable. You had to see this thing. I'll try to get my hands on the pictures I took with it, and share with the rest of you.

LOST, LOST, And More LOST

So after last week's episode, I was so mad at the show, and decided that I just don't care anymore about the show, that I just went online and started reading some spoilers to see if there is any hope for the future... and it turns out... yes, there is!

Thank god, honestly, cause I'm starting to lose all hope!

Wiki Fun

So I was bored in class today... I'm actually STILL in class, so I started using the random article feature on Wikipedia, and this is what I came up with:

  • What Christmas Means To Me

  • Minimum Chips

  • Pyeongtaek

  • Equilibrium Unfolding

  • It's been a busy week, so I very much look forward to this weekend.

    Pool NOT Decomissioned

Yeah, so for the past like 8 months I thouht that the pool here at SFSU was decomissioned. Today I went to the gym to find out the weight room hours, and I found out that not only is the pool still open, but they have swimming AND water polo. Goodbye lazy days, HELLO swimming!

    Party Crashers!

So I went to my friend Susan's house yesterday for her birthday. She was throwing this sushi and sake party with a bunch of people. We all drank quite a bit before leaving the house for a club downtown. We were on the guest list, but we got there too late, and they wanted to make us wait in the HUGE ass line and pay $20 EACH to get it... fuck that.

So we all started walking around looking for any old bar we could find. We spot one, and say what the hell, let's go. We go in, lots of people, cool DJ, etc etc. So we keep making our way in, until we finally get to a kitchen. Someone opens the refrigerator and there's (I'm not kidding) about 80 red stripes. We finally realize we've crashed a house party and said fuck it. We stayed for like 4 hours, just drinking for free. It was AWESOME!

See, if they would have had Budwiser instead or something, I would've said hell with them, Im OUT. But c'mon... RED STRIPE!!?? It was like a gift from the gods!!!

    Done With MySpace!

That's right!!! I have cut the cord with the abomination that is known as MySpace! I just SO fed up with the lazy interface, the advertisements EVERYWHERE, and the 20+ requests weekly to join sex sites.

I'm am now 100% Facebook. Of course, that is, until Facebook becomes way too big for its own good, and begins to suck, which usually happens. Then there will be a new hot sensation in social networking, and I'll probably switch to that too.

    My Friday Night

So it's Friday night, and this is what will follow:

+ Cue-ing up the third season of Scrubs
+ Watching one of three movies; Two For The Money, The Last Kiss, or The Navigator: A Time Travel Story.
+ Drinking the 70% Absinthe I brought from Europe... I've had two sips and I'm already buzzed.

    Rock on......

    Movies Galore

Our neighbor came back from Beijing with loads of pirated movies, and quite a few of them ACTUALLY at DVD quality. And I just came back from LA where I ripped about 13 movies from Mike. So right now, it's movie-ripping galore in my house, and the good ones too =)

    YES!!!

    El-Ay

So the weekend is OVAH! Party-hardied a little, chilled out with my mom, watched some Scrubs and The Office. It was a good time.
ALSO, I have a new Macbook baby. It's amazing!!

I'll post some pictures of the weekend soon.

    Friday, January 26, 2007

    Los Angloless

So I'm in LA for the weekend, and it feels nice. Of course at least 50% of that could be do to the fact that I now own a brand new MacBook, and it kicks ass.

Tomorrow (Saturday) everyone is coming over... Kristen, Darin, Rob, Kyle, Paul, and Mike. We're gonna chill, eat some fine-ass BBQ, have a few (shit-tons) drinks, and laugh about the old days.

I'll post pictures in a few days.

    Stupid People

I was walking home from the MUNI today, just out of school, and there's a guy that needs help pushing his car to the next corner because he's out of gas. He politely asks for assistance, so I gladly give it. If we would have been anywhere else, I wouldn't have given it a second thought, but the fact that we were on a 45 degree incline DOWNHILL I wondered, "why doesn't he just put the car in neutral and let it roll down?"
So naturally I ask him this, and he says, "well, I can't, the shifter won't move unless I turn on the car... should I turn it on?"
Before I have a chance to answer, HE TURNS ON the car and puts it in neutral and then HE TURNS IT OFF... the car that was OUT OF GAS!

So then he's very slowly stepping off the brakes, and he's like, "it's hard to control." Yeah, no shit, you have no power steering while the car is off!!

He then proceeds to roll downhill and turn left onto a one lane bike lane in between the sidewalk and an island, so there's only room for one car, he then looses momentum, stops, and blocks the lane.... I shook my head and kept walking home.

    Bad Fucking Luck

Yeah, I did... I broke a fucking mirror the day before school starts... WTF!!??
It was leaning against my dresser, and I bumped it... it just slid down, and shattered.

    Evidence:

    Walk Up To Lombard

Went for an extremely long walk today, ALL THE WAY TO LOMBARD STREET and BACK! Yes, and most of it uphill....
My legs hurt, and I'm about to have a couple of cold ones to relax. School starts tomorrow... LAME! But I'm ready for it all.

Anyway, for those of you outside the city, enjoy these shots:

    Tuesday, January 23, 2007

    YES!

I am now the proud owner of a brand new white Macbook!

The only thing that sucks is that I had it shipped to LA since I'll be there this weekend, and I wasn't sure if it would get here by then. Now that I got the tracking number, it says it's gonna be delivered tomorrow... =(
I guess I don't get to play with it till the weekend.

Oh well, I'm as happy as a pig in shit!

    Tuesday, January 16, 2007

    Again... It's All Finished

So it is now 12:15am (for me) and I'm not going to bed because I have to be up by 3. My flight is at 9am, but it's from London city, so to get there it will be quite a trek... and from there I have to fly to Munich, Germany, and from there straight to San Francisco. I'm flying Lufthansa though, and I heard that they give you free booze on the plane. If that's true, the flights will go by very quickly!

Was this trip what I was expecting? most definitely! I had a GREAT time! And I can now scratch one thing from my "things to do before I die" list... which you will see pictures of once I get home and post them.
I hope to make it back to this side of the world sooner rather than later.
Take care everyone... from the UK and Europe... I love you.

    Buda Buda

So my days have been pretty mellow lately. A lot of just renting movies, chillin at home, a few walks around the city. Nothing big. We went to the Zoo the other day, which was AWESOME! I hadn't seen a girraf (sp?) since Argentina times...

Anyway, I wish I could post some pictures for yall, but right now it's a little hard. I'll write back soon.

    Pees.

    Jet Lag

So I've been here for like a week now, and for some reason I still need like 15 hours of sleep a day. I don't get it. I sleep about 7 hours at night, then by noon I'm super tired so I take like a 2 or 3 hour nap, and then by 8 I'm exhausted again... what's wrong with me??

Anyway, today should be pretty chill. I have to go return a movie, and rent another cause Lilla is going to school for a few hours to take an exam. So I'll probably get myself a movie or two, buy myself some delish pastries, and veg out all day... I'm sure a few sessions of Sudoku will also take place.
Later today, we're going ice skating... out doors for once, and perhaps catch a movie.

It's kinda funny, I'm in Budapest and I'm not really doing much. Just chillin all day. I don't really feel that bad though since I've seen it already...

    I wanna get drunk again.

    Tuesday, January 02, 2007

    Euro-Madness

Chillin in Budapest... literally, it's fucking freezing. I'm having an amazing time though! It honestly feels weird, cause being back here and in London it felt like I never left... it felt weird that it didn't feel weird to be there.

New year's was great, we went out to a huge night club and drank the night away with champagne. I'll post pictures as soon as technology permits.

I had this feeling when I was back in London. I was thinking that the world seems to get smaller the more you travel to the same places, no matter how far they are... if you catch my drift. I mean, if you go back to lets say London, like me, a few times, and you have all these friends there, it's sort of second nature, and it feels like you can go whenever you want. But then the world seems to get BIGGER when you go to NEW places. I mean, if I was in Papua New Guinea right now, I sure as hell wouldn't fell close to home. I don't know, maybe that sounds stupid...

Well, gotta go. I need to return some DVDs and buy myself some pastries.
